Maritima is a dynamic initiative uniting scientists, artists, organizations, and institutions to foster innovative artistic dialogues about the Mediterranean.

Maritima is a dynamic initiative uniting scientists, artists, organizations, and institutions to foster innovative artistic dialogues about the Mediterranean.

Recognized in 2021 as one of the 28 most sustainable and innovative initiatives by SDSN Youth Mediterranean (aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals), the project was featured on page 27 of their report. This honor celebrates youth-led efforts across the Mediterranean's culturally and politically diverse landscape, highlighting their pivotal role in shaping the region's future.

Maritima's selected works explore the Mediterranean's rich histories, migration flows, and cultural exchanges while engaging with its unique natural environment. The sea is envisioned as a living, dynamic entity with its own intricate "inner world," home to species that remain underexplored or critically endangered.

Rooted in the region, Maritima connects the scientific study and protection of this extraordinary marine ecosystem with artistic creativity. Together, they address themes of transformation, interconnection, and sustainability.
